Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS (FhP-AICOS) is one of the partners of Porto4Ageing, a multidisciplinary alliance created to better respond to the citizens' needs, especially in active and health ageing in the Porto Metropolitan Area. The Porto4Ageing consortium will be gathered tomorrow, May 9th, in an Open Day. The meeting and the exhibition starts at 09:00, at Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute and Faculty of Pharmacy, of the University of Porto.

More than 90 organizations with different backgrounds, goals and actions are working together with a shared vision and common targets. The Porto4Ageing consortium promotes local convergence and improves the health innovation ecosystem, while reducing and overcoming existing bottlenecks. The partnership involves several stakeholders, specifically: decision makers and health and care providers; business and industry; academia and research; and civil society and users.

As research member, Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS has already contributed with eight projects: AAL4ALL – Ambient Assisted Living For All; ChefMyself – Assistance Solution for Improving Cooking Skills and Nutritional Knowledge for Independent Elderly People; E-NO Falls – European Network for Fall Prevention, Intervention & Security; eCAALYX – Enhanced Complete Ambient Assisting Living Experiment; FCC – Fall Competence Center; My-AHA – My Active and Healthy Ageing; REMPARK – Personal Health Device for the Remote and Autonomous Management of Parkinson’s Disease; and SmartBEAT – Smart System for the Management of Heart Failure in Older Adults.

During the Open Day, the researcher Filipe Sousa, from Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS, will explore the topic active and healthy ageing at home and will also showcase some FhP-AICOS’ projects.
